Bridging Cultures through Art and Talking Therapy

As a school counselor, I dedicated myself to supporting students’ emotional well-being by helping them navigate academic, personal, and social challenges. I incorporated anthroposophic art therapy to encourage holistic development through creative and therapeutic approaches.

My role involved individual and group counselling, facilitating therapeutic arts sessions, collaborating closely with staff, and engaging with parents. My diploma in systemic family practice strengthened my ability to build meaningful connections within families, schools, and the broader community, enabling me to offer better support to parents and teachers facing children’s difficulties. I aimed to create a safe space for students by leading support groups and fostering emotional expression through various art forms.

My knowledge of anthroposophic psychotherapy and systemic family therapy, along with empathy, active listening, creativity, and conflict-resolution skills, helped create a trusting environment—one that encourages expression, minimizes conflict, and builds resilience. This overall approach contributed to strengthening students’ emotional resilience, cultivating a school culture that values mental health, reducing absenteeism, and encouraging students’ active participation.
